DIL is a pilot project of Foundation for Library Awareness (FOLA) to preserve the Living Heritage of Sri Lankan Tamils which could be act as an institutional repository of the image collections of FOLA.
Image collections are an essential component of FOLA’s print and artifact collections both of their artistic and documentary value which have been collected over the years since the inception of FOLA.
The images are being collected from various sources. The presently existing tangible and intangible heritage were produced by taking photographs. The heritage replaced by modern way of life and lost its existence were collected by scanning the pictures available from print resources such as books, journals, newspapers, paintings, and collecting from websites.
FOLA has designed this DIL in a systematic and constructive user friendly way with the support of Dspace, the open source library software to preserve the cultural heritage of Sri Lankan Tamils which is available on intranet. The selective images of DIL are available in this blog for dissemination.
இந்த எண்ணிம விம்ப நூலகமானது இலங்கைத் தமிழர்களின் வாழும் மரபு சார்ந்த தகவல்களைப் பாதுகாப்பதற்கான முதலாவது செயற்திட்டமாக நூலக விழிப்புணர்வு நிறுவகத்தால் ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இதில் உள்ள விம்பங்களில் நேரடியாகப் பெறப்படக்கூடியவை நேரடியாக ஒளிப்படமெடுப்பதனூடாகவும் எம்மிடமிருந்து மறைந்து போனவை எழுத்துமூல பதிவேடுகளிலிருந்து மீளுருவாக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டதாவும் உள்ளது.
